what to expect...

Sunday Worship, 10:45 am. Nursery provided.

Whether you're a longtime church-goer, or visiting this crazy thing called "church" for the first time, we want you to feel welcome at Shawnee Christian Church.  Here's an overview of what to expect.

...when you arrive

When you come through Shawnee's door (one of three on the main level), there will be a few friendly faces there to say hello, hand you a bulletin that outlines the order of service, and answer any questions you may have.

For about five minutes before the service begins, Shawnee's  Music Director (Ty Crabtree) will have music playing in the sancturary greeting you as you find a comfortable spot to participate in the service.

A nursery with qualified attendants is located down the hallway from the sanctuary for newborn and infant children.  At the appropraite time the children leave with an adult volunteer for Children’s Worship (except on the first Sunday of the month when they will stay in worship.).

...during worship

At Shawnee, we borrow from a wide variety of traditional Christian worship styles - and we like to think we infuse these traditions with a little fun, and a lot of spirit!

Our pastor, director of music, and each week's worship leader will guide things as they go, and your bulletin will give you a rundown of that week's order of service.

Each Sunday, we run the gamut from classical music to traditional hymns to hand-clapping gospel, from silent prayer to uplifting testamony to stirring preaching. And each service concludes with Communion, a simple meal of bread that is broken and a cup that is shared. This meal forms the center of our life together.
